Kelly and Dan’s 99 Sudbury wedding was special for so many reasons. First and foremost, they surrounded themselves with amazing friends and family who were ridiculously supportive and so positive all day. Their bridal party was absolutely amazing. I photographed the wedding of one of the bridesmaids last year. In fact, this wedding is a referral from her. The new faces were a blast as well. No idea was too crazy or out there.
When rain is on the mist, it’s always nice to have a couple flexible with their wedding itinerary. Luckily in Canada rain comes in mini sprits. So as long as things can shift here and there, you can generally work around it. In this case it meant doing the bridal party photos before the ceremony and enjoying cocktail hour inside when the rain finally hit. However, since we couldn’t rush hair/makeup, the portrait session was pretty quick. We did it right on-site, in and around the venue.
Having a 99 Sudbury wedding (or a Glass Factory wedding if you want to be specific) is perfect for the couple who likes an industrial-chique. With it being a larger space with lovely lighting, you can really use your decor to make it pop to your liking. These two opted for a minimalist style and decor and I think that it was perfect for this venue. Instead of floral centerpieces, they had wired geometric shapes. And instead of formal chandeliers, they had twinkling lights.
The civil ceremony was set in front of a fronted window alter. It offered a soft diffused light on the couple that looked amazing. Their vows were custom-written. Kelly was near tears when Dan began reciting his. The ceremony commenced with a large group photo of everyone who attended. And the rest of the night was a free for all. There was no scheduled timeline of events. Unless you include the rubber animal masks that released at 9:00. The guests weren’t even heavily drinking. They just really enjoyed those masks.
A huge thank you to Kelly, Dan, and their guests. You welcomed me into the day like that I was an extension of the family and I thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to capture these memories for you.
