Ajax Convention Centre
Catholic Ceremony
The couple had a traditional Catholic Ceremony at St Hedwig Parish. It’s a small church in Oshawa. Since I had never photographed there before, I did my customary research online so I knew what to expect. The photos made me super nervous as I was expecting a very dark church. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised seeing it in person. In fact, it was absolutely gorgeous. It had stained glass windows with tons of natural light. In addition, the painted artwork above the altar was beautiful. The ceremony was about an hour and included a full mass.
After the church ceremony, we went to the Parkwood Estate for the official portrait session. It was a very sunny day so the majority of the group portraits were sorted in the shade. I totally fell in love with the gorgeous architecture and gardens. Most couples I work with have never done a professional photoshoot. They don’t know the posing structure or lighting. So they usually just lay back and let me take the lead. These two, however, had a very clear view. They did their research. They found sample wedding shots they loved from the same venue that could be easily replicated. In fact, they even raided Pinterest ideas that matched their personalities. Give me that and two hours to play, I had a field day them.
Evening Reception
The remainder of their evening activities were at Ajax Convention Centre. Their grand entrance led straight into the first dance with dry ice. It looked like they were dancing on a cloud. so magical. The speeches were a bit emotional, but they seemed to have fun with the cake cutting and garter toss. However, the surprising highlight of the evening was the photo booth. I offer a complimentary photo booth with my weddings as novelty entertainment. This crowd though loved it. There was never a quiet moment and we even kept it open longer than normal because of the high demands. All around, super fun day. Hope you all enjoy the final results.
The second shooter for this wedding was Michelle Paquot.
