Ancaster Mill
An Ancaster Mill wedding is all about serene ambiance, scenic views, and one of the finest cuisines in the country. Located far from the city’s hustle and bustle, this quiet wedding venue is ideal for couples looking for an intimate and romantic summer celebration.
This was my first time shooting at Ancaster Mill. Such an amazing all-inclusive venue for any prospective brides still looking. So many of the big details were taken care of by the venue. So the couple could focus on the little personal touches that made their wedding so unique. Very smooth day considering the large family.
Ceremony
Jen and Dave had their civil ceremony in the picturesque Streamside Chapel. The gardens featured a canopy of trees and a white picket doorway. Nestled on the side of the escarpment, bordering the stream, this charming open-air chapel provides the romance and lasting memories for a perfect day. As for the creative photos, I let nature speak for itself. I mean this venue has a waterfall. You may not be able to jump in but you can still get pretty close without ruining your wedding dress. We took pictures in the afternoon to catch the golden light and enjoy the Ancaster Mill’s scenic surroundings.
Since this was my first time at this location, I took the bridal party on a full walk-around of the grounds. Honestly we couldn’t get more than a few before wanting to take pictures. I could have spent the whole day exploring this area. However eventually we did have to head inside.
Reception
The evening wedding festivities were in the Millview Room. This room features magnificent conservatory-style windows at every angle. Day or night, this room is located to capture everything about the Mill’s environment. This includes the Escarpment’s beauty that changes with the seasons and the dynamic view of the original structure itself.
Their grand entrance introduced their entire bridal party before the bride and groom. They had an assortment of emotional speeches and kissing games. However the highlight was their first dance. These two choreographed an elegant ballroom dance routine for their guests. Jen may have had some difficulty maneuvering in her wedding dress, but you couldn’t wipe that smile off her face. Even Dave was able to finally let loose when the dance floor opened. Dance floors are always fun to document when the couple is leading the party and this was no exception.
The second shooter for this wedding was Max Wong.
I also photographed this couple’s newborn session a few years later.
