Yes having a backyard wedding is still a thing despite Covid being over. It is the perfect excuse to go small scale and have a truly intimate wedding day. Jen & Dan did keep the guest count down to make the whole experience more personable. However they did no skip out on the aesthetic. This little wedding was stunning. All the little details were beautifully created and I thoroughly enjoyed photographing and testing the food. Their dog was super cute and followed me around the entire time hoping I might put my food down while shooting. Little did she know I can do both.
The couple was not big on getting excessive photos. But they did have a specific list of what type photos they wanted. Everything from specific family combinations, to parts of the ceremony. It worked out quite nicely because they actually preferred me to photograph just the essentials and lay low for the rest. So I was able to enjoy this event as well.
Their civil ceremony was done outdoors as a backyard wedding. The couple work as professional stunt doubles in the film industry, yet when it came to their backyard wedding, they wanted simple. The couple’s dog played a pretty significant role in the ceremony and the festivities afterward.
Once the ceremony was complete, we did a few rounds of photos with their family around property grounds. Afterward, it was just the couple and me. They were so cute together. But they wanted to keep the posed photos to a minimum and really focus on the family in attendance.
So we kept their coverage pretty candid, and gave them a chance to simply enjoy the event.
