Bombay Palace
As I walked into Bombay Palace to photograph Idalene & Sooknarain’s 50th wedding anniversary, I could feel immediately that this was more than a celebration. It was a legacy. The room glowed with golden anniversary décor, elegant and warm, perfectly reflecting five decades of love, resilience, and shared history. Every detail had intention, and as a photographer, it was a dream to capture.
From behind my lens, I watched loved ones arrive for this Milestone Event. Many greeting the couple with hugs that felt decades deep. What struck me most was learning that several guests had also been present on the couple’s original wedding day. Photographing those reunions was incredibly special: the same friendships, the same laughter, now framed by time and memory.
Reception
The evening flowed beautifully. Heartfelt speeches filled the room with both tears and laughter, each story adding another layer to the couple’s journey. I focused on the small moments in between. The squeeze of a hand, knowing smiles, and proud glances exchanged as they listened. These are the moments I love most as a photographer, the ones that often say more than words.
The cake-cutting was a highlight, surrounded by applause and cameras, but what followed was just as meaningful. Guests mingled, reminisced, and created new memories together. The room buzzed with connection, and I moved quietly through it all, capturing joy as it unfolded naturally.
Photographing Idalene & Sooknarain’s 50th anniversary was an honor. It was a reminder of why I do what I do: to preserve moments that matter, especially when love has stood the test of time.
