Carl’s Catering The Glen
For such a small venue, it’s amazing how many weddings I photograph at Carl’s Catering The Glen every year. Normally all-inclusive venues have multiple weddings happening at any given time. However, those who book at Carl’s Catering The Glen, get the entire place to themselves. That means exclusive access to the manicured lawns and gardens for your guests to enjoy during the function. Throughout the warm seasons, you can take advantage of their stone patio for cocktail hour that lights up at night. But the key feature is their charming Gazebo that hosts some beautiful outdoor wedding ceremonies. There’s not even a need to book an additional photo site since the venue grounds are surrounded by professionally landscaped greenery and stoned pathways.
It was the perfect setting for this little wedding. May and Chris would be classified as an elderly couple. However, you wouldn’t guess it if you met them in person. Their bubbly personality is that of a couple in their twenties. “Wrap your arms around her… no not on her ass.” I know it’s their wedding day, but based on their family, this is how they always are. They’re always cracking jokes and playing together. This may be their second time around, but it looks like they’re doing it right.
Last Minute Swap
There are always the horror stories people hear of photographers not showing up on the wedding day. This was a day I almost couldn’t make it. I woke up to bradycardic issues from heatstroke. See the day before, I photographed a wedding in a greenhouse during a heatwave. Summer weddings are always hot, however, I didn’t realize how bad it was until the next day. So here I am hospitalized and going through heart scans with a bride prep I need to be at in the next 3 hours. I have multiple associate shooters specifically for this reason.
Michelle Paquot was able to cover the bride’s morning prep while I was in recovery. This was one of the sweetest couples I got to work with this year. So the second my doctor gave me clearance, I bolted to the venue. Made it just as the couple arrived for their first look and portrait session at Carl’s Catering. Despite the chaos of my morning, this wedding went by so smoothly. I kept Michelle as a second shooter for the outdoor civil ceremony just in case. But once we were inside with air conditioning, I felt like myself again. And the workers of Carls Catering were amazingly helpful by providing me with a constant flow of ice water to keep the day’s heat at bay.
