Carmen’s C Hotel
Samantha and James’s wedding at Carmen’s C Hotel was such a pleasure to capture. We started the day with the bride and groom getting ready in separate rooms at the hotel. This hotel is very nice and modern. In fact, each floor has a different bold colour with sayings all around. I loved the rich red that was in the bedroom of the bridal suite. The red bedrooms and the dark expresso headboard lends a great backdrop for photos as the couple got ready. So, if you are looking for a venue that has it all, Carmen’s is definitely an amazing option. This couple had the ceremony, the photos, and the reception all within walking distance.
Sam Lawrence Park
Their first look was on a private bridge just outside the hotel. The bride scouted out this location months ago so it was definitely one of her must-haves. The windy day did offer a nice dramatic effect to their portrait photos. Because there was no need to throw her veil up in the air to get the flying veil effect. Hers was all-natural. Luckily the wind died down as we went into Sam Lawrence Park. The darker autumn green tones of the park worked really well with the bride and bridesmaids’ bouquets. Do note that these bouquets are silk and DIY by the bride.
Afterward, we headed back to the hotel to reunite with the couple’s family. The bride and groom had a young son who they wanted to include in their portrait session. Yet similar to most kids this age, you only have their attention for seconds at a time. Luckily when did the official family portraits, the family was able to manage the bride’s veil. However once the family was down to the couple and their son, Samantha’s veil took off. This was my first tornado veil. It spiraled straight up to the sky.
Ceremony/Reception
This Carmen’s C Hotel Wedding all took place at one location. The ceremony was atop the rooftop patio. Throughout the whole ceremony, it was cool and windy. This wedding will likely be my last outdoor ceremony of the year. Or at least I hope it is since it was freezing. The guests were given warm blankets as party favours. However, the standing bridal party withstood the cold.
Highlights of the evening reception include a first dance between the wedding couple and their son. Normally I wouldn’t put speeches in my highlights. However, the mother of the groom put on some bling-bling and rapped her speech. So glad I wasn’t the one video recording as I would have ended up with a shaky camera from laughing so much.
