Casa Loma
I have wanted to photograph a wedding at Casa Loma since I moved to Canada. But, I just never had the opportunity. Casa Loma is a castle inspired wedding venue. This iconic landmark would make any bride feel like a princess. From the Library to the bright Conservatory, each room provides its own experience. Who wouldn’t be enchanted by this unforgettable venue?
E. J. Lennox built this castle in 1914 and screams elegance. It includes five acres of gardens. Thus, it offers a cozy escape from city life. There are stunning settings for wedding ceremonies across the mansion and its grounds. It offers colorful gardens in the summer. However, its focal point is the exterior architecture. Even at a winter wedding like this, there’s no downplaying its magical ambiance. Which gets even better at night when the castle lights up. This couple’s civil ceremony was in the Conservatory. The room had large windows that offered views of the gardens and allowed for tons of natural light. Due to this, the room is ideal for ceremonies. Its stained glass ceiling reflects the castle’s detailing as a whole.
Portrait Session
When you book Casa Loma for a wedding, you get to enjoy full access to the property for the photography sessions. There is an on-site dressing room that you can use to get ready for your special day. Their event coordinator was available throughout the big day to offer advice and assistance. She recommended a few of the castle’s featured areas and even offered to give me a tour before the ceremony began.
I was only booked for two hours of photography coverage for this couple’s elopement. My coverage included the wedding ceremony in all its glory. We did a portrait session with the bridal party and key family members of the wedding couple. And finished off with a little walk around tour of the castle where the couple had their official portraits done. Afterwards, the couple reunited with their guests for a private dinner at a local restaurant. This winter wedding may have been a quickie elopement, but what a way to go.
