Coptic Orthodox Wedding Ceremony
I take pride in the cultural diversity of my wedding couples. With Toronto being such a hotpot of backgrounds, I’m kind of surprised how few photographers are do the same. Many stick to their specialties and don’t ever learn about the cultures and traditions beyond their niche. And here I am, still eager after 14 years in the industry to photograph a new type of wedding ceremony.
To those who aren’t aware, the Coptic Orthodox Church is the adaptation of the Orthodox faith within Egypt. Only 5% of Egyptians are Coptic Orthodox. So needless to say, there aren’t a lot of them around, let alone in Toronto. Hence why I was so excited to capture this Coptic Orthodox Wedding at St Mark’s Coptic Cathedral. It was a very interesting fusion of ceremonies. They the crowns and sashes of orthodox ceremonies mixed with music and energy I’ve experienced through Muslim weddings.
Wedding Portraits
The couple did do their wedding portraits before the ceremony. Another first for me was shooting a wedding at David Dunlap Observatory. This location is definitely going to be added to my must have locations. Such a unique location to take pictures at. And its lack of advertising meant we had the whole place to ourselves. We coordinated the family, bridal party, and couple portraits at this location before heading to the church. And the rest of the day was spent at good old Paradise Banquet Hall. A favorite reception venue of many of my couples.
Photo/Video
This is a relatively new service I offer. I officially have an in-house videographer to give you full coverage of your wedding day. So while I am photographing your event, he is able to capture everything on video as well. Photo coverage of this event can be seen here. This package includes the highlight reel, a full run through of the wedding ceremony and the scheduled highlights of the evening wedding reception. All speeches and vows are uncut so you remember every word
