Multi-Day Destination Wedding – Cancun
Most couples during Covid downsized their wedding to the bare essentials. Shivanie & Brian did the polar opposite. Hey, if you’re only going to marry once, you might as well do it right. Yes, the guest count was small. But they had their destination wedding at the Planet Hollywood Hotel Cancun. This all inclusive resort accommodated all the pre events leading up to and including their South Indian Wedding. Everyone came vaccinated. So they did follow all the Covid restrictions. However, one of the nice things of having such a small crowd, is it doesn’t stop you from having a big event. Or rather, a long event.
This South Indian Wedding had guests attending from around the world. The week was full events. However there were only 3 that I actually photographed, and honeymoon shoot specifically for the happy couple. The couple running the show was absolutely epic. The groom found me a couple years back when he was planning his proposal. Covid lockdowns caused a few delays along the way. But when the time came, she did say yes.
Shivanie & Brian did arrive to the resort a week early in attempts to have everything organized before the festivities started. However, even when the week started, they were still planning the days to come. How they kept up with the planning, and the celebrations while keeping their sanity… I will never know. I’m sure they had their stressful moments, but no bride/groomzillas appeared that entire week.
I provided both photo and video coverage of each South Indian Wedding. In order to help keep their numbers down, and save them the cost of an additional fligh/hotel stay, I provided both services without any additional crew. So obviously, the video wasn’t meant to be fancy. It was mostly just as documentary coverage since some of the events weren’t attended by both the bride and groom.
Honeymoon Shoot
Honeymoon shoots are something fun for the couple to do after their wedding. There is always a lot happening on the wedding day. And for couples who love taking pictures, it’s an opportunity to take some time specifically for this purpose. For this session, I requested the couple to meet me on the beach for a sunrise couple shoot. Sunrises like this don’t happen in Toronto. The city cuts off the best viewpoint and our waterfront horizon runs in the wrong direction. So this is a special experience I wanted to make sure they had. They loved it so much that they made a point of watching the sunrise together everyday for the remainder of this trip.
