Destination Wedding – Renewal of Vows – Anniversary
Some love stories come full circle, and Liana & Victor’s destination wedding was exactly that. A beautiful continuation of a journey I’ve been lucky to witness from the very beginning. I first photographed Liana and Victor’s wedding in Toronto during the height of Covid restrictions. Like so many couples at the time, they celebrated their marriage in an intimate, pared-down way, surrounded by love but limited by circumstance. Fast forward five years, two beautiful children later, and this destination celebration at the venue Dreams Natura Resort & Spa in Cancun, Mexico felt like the wedding they had always envisioned. Even more special to this milestone, their renewal of vows coincided perfectly with their fifth anniversary.
The day began in one of the resort’s spacious suites, where Liana and Victor got ready together with their kids—an emotional, joyful morning that set the tone for everything that followed. While the morning prep ran a bit behind schedule, the energy never felt rushed. We still carved out quiet time for private portraits before the ceremony, capturing moments that felt intimate and deeply earned.
Ceremony/Reception
Their beachfront ceremony was stunning, with the ocean as a backdrop and their loved ones gathered close. Incorporating traditional Filipino wedding elements, they exchanged coins and were draped in cords and veils. A powerful symbol of unity, commitment, and shared life. Photographing these rituals against the soft light and waves was incredibly moving.
After the ceremony, we moved into an extensive round of family photos—something that clearly meant a lot to them. Yet still made it back in time to enjoy cocktail hour. The reception that followed was full of heartfelt speeches, laughter, and a packed dance floor.
This wasn’t just a renewal of vows. It was a celebration of resilience, growth, family, and love—finally shared with everyone who helped shape their story.
