Enoch Turner Schoolhouse
The Enoch Turner Schoolhouse is perfect for couples looking for an intimate wedding venue that transports you back to the early history of the city. In front of the venue is Litte Trinity Anglican Church. It’s a great option for the brides and grooms seeking a church ceremony. However, Ruo and Matthew fell in love with the aesthetic of the West Hall and used those giant windows as the backdrop of their civil ceremony alter.
This schoolhouse is also a great option for couples on a smaller budget. Because the school is a museum and not located in the expensive part of town, it is a more realistic option. The venue includes the West Hall, Schoolroom, and Salon. The schoolroom, is the original schoolhouse building, and furnished just like how it would have back in its hay day. We used the space as a private bridal suite. It was also our backup portrait site as the weather was a bit unpredictable.
Snow on Thursday, rain on Friday, freezing rain on Saturday, and perfectly blue skies on the wedding day. That’s spring weather for you in Canada. Horrible as a photographer to plan a wedding shoot with unpredictable weather. You just cross your fingers and play the hand you’re dealt. I feel pretty lucky this season. Whatever rain I’ve come across has been manageable and my couples have trusted my backup plans.
Queen’s Quay
Since the weather was in our favour, we proceeded with the original plan of portraits at Queen’s Quay. It was just the couple and bridal party for the morning. The family portraits were planned for after the ceremony at Enoch Turner Schoolhouse. These two turned some serious heads while walking the waterfront along the Queen’s Quay Toronto. As a result, most people in the background made a point of getting out of the way. Such a fun wedding. Super small and intimate but so much love going around. See when guest counts are this small, I always feel special for being one of the chosen few.
I originally met this couple at another wedding. See it seems Ruo’s circle of friends/bridesmaids have something besides friendship in common. They all have me as their wedding photographer. This is my second wedding within this group. I’ll also be photographing her bridesmaid’s wedding later this year.
