Guild Inn Wedding
The Guild Inn is one of the most popular wedding venues in Scarborough. It also happens to be only ten minutes from where I live and once of my favorites to shoot at. Not just for weddings, but family and maternity shoots as well. The venue itself hosts multiple events on any given day. It’s able to accommodate indoor ceremonies within the venue, outdoor ceremonies in the gardens. The garden grounds are huge. Even during the off-season, the historical outdoor museum works as a beautiful backdrop. The permits are a bit steep, but honestly are worth every penny.
Chinese Tea Ceremony
Most photographers would call me crazy for taking on events like this. 14hr wedding with a Western Ceremony and Chinese Tea Ceremony. Still a separate bride and groom prep however these weddings include multiple costume changes. The families were a fusion of Chinese and Korean so there were traditions brought in from both cultures. A great example of that is the variation of guest attire. The groom wore a traditional purple hanbok, while the groom’s mother wore a female equivalent. The bride wore a traditional northern Chinese wedding dress called a qipao. Its a long, form-fitting, one-piece gown often in red and gold. The bridal party and families were large as usual. I usually try to photograph the families twice to feature the bride/groom’s two outfits.
The pacing of this day was amazing, and the couple did give me a lot of freedom to keep everything on schedule. I was even able to include additional photo ops they didn’t realize would fit into their day. As excited as I was to photograph this wedding, I was even more excited to deliver the final photos. These two went on a one month honeymoon after the wedding, keeping me in suspense for a while. Now that it’s delivered, I can finally share the results.
