Guild Inn Wedding
The Guild Inn is one of the most popular wedding venues in Scarborough. It also happens to be only ten minutes from where I live and once of my favorites to shoot at. Not just for weddings, but family and maternity shoots as well. The venue hosts multiple events on any given day. It’s able to accommodate indoor ceremonies and outdoor ceremonies in the gardens. The garden grounds are huge. Even during the off season, the historical outdoor museum works as a beautiful backdrop. The permits are a bit steep, but it is worth every penny.
South Asian weddings photograph beautifully here. The brightly colored outfits really compliment the neutral ruins. The unique open setting feels like something out of a Bollywood movie. I almost expected a song to break out where I could see my wedding couple run through the fields. Oh, and here comes the bridal party ready to break into a coordinated dance routine.
The venue did renovate a lot this past winter season. This would be my first time seeing the new setup. So, I didn’t really know what to expect. Somehow they made it even better. Their outdoor setup at night is now my favorite thing to photograph. And seeing this Hindu Wedding amongst the spring garden grounds just adds to its beauty.
Civil Ceremony
Since this was a fusion wedding, the couple opted to have a civil ceremony instead of a traditional three hour Hindu ceremony. A civil ceremony is very simple. It takes place without any religious backing. Yet it still meets the legal requirements. Despite being from two very different cultures, this couple was not very religious. They did include cultural elements throughout their wedding day to represent their different families. However the wedding ceremony was short and simple.
