Paletta Mansion
Tanisha and Jason’s gorgeous summer wedding at Paletta Mansion in Burlington was a dream. Their wedding style was sleek modern and the Paletta Mansion was the most perfect venue for their summer house wedding party. I absolutely loved Tanisha’s choice of jewel-tone blues which complemented her incredible personally custom-made dress. The colour palette transitioned into the bouquets, bridesmaid dresses, and the groom’s suit.
But what do you expect when a wedding planner gets married. Yes, we vendors have weddings too. Tanisha is the lead coordinator Star 4 A Day Events. We have worked together for years. So, of course, when she asked me to photograph her special day, I said yes. And when it’s a wedding planner’s big day, you can bet anything that the details will be perfect. This wedding is a portfolio piece in itself. She had everything from a custom alter, blue charger plates, and designer wedding programs. However, the key feature of this brunch wedding was an elaborate sweets table that not only looked beautiful but tasted amazing.
Ceremony
The civil ceremony started out beautifully. Tanisha walked down the aisle with her son. Their unity ceremony involved planting a tree. They wrote their own vows.
However, this wedding was truly unique as it happened during a full solar eclipse. Why get married on a Tuesday? This is why. A full solar eclipse happens somewhere on Earth, once every eighteen months. This particular eclipse aligned more with Oregon in the US, yet it was the best one Toronto has seen in twenty years. The eclipse happened on August 21, 2017 at 2:32 on a Tuesday… just as Tanisha and Jason said their I do’s. Talk about timing. Most guests weren’t aware of this plan. It was simply an outdoor wedding ceremony at the Paletta Mansion on a sunny day. Then all of a sudden, there was a shadow cast. It lasted all of two minutes and then cleared. It wasn’t until after the ceremony when people realized it happened.
Being an astronomy buff, I was following the solar eclipse on my phone. I knew it would happen during the ceremony, yet I didn’t know when. Obviously the rule with solar eclipses is don’t stare directly into it. So in order to capture it on camera, the ceremony itself had to go pretty dark. But what an epic moment. A once in a lifetime event to land on your once in a lifetime wedding.
