Royal Botanical Gardens
It seems a lot of wedding venues stopped functioning this year due to all the COVID restrictions. The Royal Botanical Gardens however was able to keep most of their wedding features open. Their outdoor Royal Court tent became a popular spot for many weddings this year. And their indoor spaces are finally open again. All-inclusive, and beautiful gardens. For Erica & Kevin, it gave them the opportunity to actually have a wedding this year.
Morning Prep
The day started out in at a nearby hotel. It was close to the venue and allowed both of them to get ready at the same location, just separate rooms. The entire bridal party, as well as the couple, were commercial airline pilots. So the plane theme appeared throughout the day. This was also the first wedding in a while where I didn’t have to teach the boys how to do a tie. Heck they could do it with their eyes closed.
Before heading to the Royal Botanical Gardens, we did a quick stopover to Dundurn Castle. They wanted to get some portraits sorted prior to the ceremony.
Ceremony at the Royal Botanical Gardens
Their civil ceremony was short and sweet at the RBG was short and simple. All the guests seated with social distancing in mind. Similar floral and silk arrangments decorated the alter. And even though the vows were intended for tears, they ended up bring a smile to their faces.
Once the ceremony was over, they spent some time mingling with their guests. We did a round of family photos at the garden. And then proceeded to the Atrium for their reception. The decor reflected the couple’s plane theme. And the events were pretty normal. The main Covid restriction was that the dancing had to be outdoors. Luckily the weather was beautiful, so no issues there. All in all, it was a very pleasant wedding day.
