Royal York Hotel
True, some of my weddings are rescheduling due to COVID-19. But in it’s place, have popped up a series of sporadic elopements. All small scale. All couples who wanted a low key wedding and used COVID restrictions as the perfect excuse to go small. Lulu & Assad both came from relatively large families, but had no interest in having a large wedding to match. With large gatherings limited to under 10 and Toronto on the brink of a third lockdown, it was the perfect time for them to get hitched without anyone realizing. So they decided to take advantage of the situation and have their micro wedding at the Royal York Hotel.
This was a mini 2 hour wedding with the groom’s mother and I present to witness. Everyone else was streaming in on their phones. They had a simple muslim ceremony in their hotel room. And the rest of the time was spent exploring the city.
Toronto Music Gardens
While I am a regular at the Toronto Music Gardens, this was the couple’s first visit. They couldn’t decide between the city, garden, or waterfront as their backdrop. So I brought them to the Toronto Music Gardens where they could enjoy all three. Now normally when I work with Muslim couples, they are more on the conservative side. However, these two loved taking photos. So much so that I stopped looking at the clock because I was enjoying their energy.
I am so glad that I was able to aid them on this special day. Covid-19 has definitely thrown a lot of couples for a loop when it comes to planning their weddings. And these two really did embrace the whole thing. I truly hope that energy will stick with them during the remainder of this pandemic and for many years to come.
