Waterstone Estate and Farms
Ahhhhh what a wonderful day at Waterstone Estate & Farms for a wedding. This is my first time photographing a wedding at this venue. Mihaela and Mohammed had a civil wedding ceremony at the Waterstone Estate chapel. It was a Romanian/Arabian fusion wedding but the ceremony was pretty simple. Mihaela walked down the aisle with her father. The couple recited their own wedding vows and exchanged rings. Though due to their conservative families, they did skip the first kiss. Not a problem. We had plenty of opportunities to make up for it during their portrait session.
I am just in love with this venue. It is so lush, green, and peaceful. This time of year, there were some issues with mosquitoes in the woods so we spent most of our time in the open. This venue is a functioning rustic farm with horses, forests, and prairies. We took our time exploring all the areas. Luckily by now, with the ceremony over, the bride wasn’t too worried about getting her dress dirty. It was, however, a very hot summer day. And with the groom wearing a black suit, we didn’t want him to soak through.
Instead, I gave the couple a little break to freshen up. They enjoyed their cocktail hour and grand entrance into their reception at Waterstone Estate & Farms. Their reception setup had simple arrangements but focused on the room’s natural features. They DIY’d most of their wedding and I love how it all came together. And once the sun started to set, we brought out all the VIPs for family and bridal party photos.
Mohammed first picked up Mihaela while waiting in a movie theatre lineup. These are the love stories that I find truly unique and incredibly rare. I know every couple has a story. However, nowadays, it seems most people meet through online dating or referral from a friend. Nobody gets “picked up” anymore. But the most memorable thing for me was the groom taking off his jacket and partaking in a breakdance challenge. While most couples opt for wedding-appropriate music that satisfies friends and family of any generation, these two preferred 90s throwback hip hop. Seems their guests did too. No one left early and they had a packed dance floor all night.
